Colin Roberson b. 1988
I fell in love with captivating instructors at Jesuit High School, and studied musical theater at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts class of 2006. I earned a minor in art history and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Louisiana State University in 2012 (after attempting to become an environmental scientist, photo journalist, doctor, and graphic designer).
I became the photographer’s assistant to Margot Herster, Tina Freeman, Josephine Socabo, and Jessica Lange, a civil servant at the New Orleans Public Library. I worked with Neil Barclay at the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, running the box office and patron services. At the New Orleans Community Printshop and Darkroom I grew a community that continues calling me home.
I received the New Artist Society Merit Full Scholarship to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. MFA 2019
Over 2 years I traveled to Detroit, London, York, Brighton, Prague, Helsinki, Auckland and Wellington to teach and perform with SAIC Faculty Mark Jeffrey and Judd Morrissey in the mixed reality performance group ATOM-r.
